After 3 years of continuous technical research, QP1500, a high-performance cold-rolled quenched ductile steel with a tensile strength of 1500MPa, successfully rolled off the line in Baosteel (6.370, -0.02, -0.31%). This is another important breakthrough for Baosteel in the third generation of advanced high-strength steel since the world's first QP980 product in 2010. The global debut of QP1500 means that Baosteel has taken another solid step on the road of boosting China Baowu to become a leader in the global steel industry. With the use of QP1500, it is possible to achieve the cold stamping of more complex shaped parts, and the weight can be reduced by 10-20% compared with the existing cold stamping ultra-high strength steel.
In recent years, the lightweight of automobile body has become the development trend of the international automobile industry, and it is the most important technical direction to achieve energy saving and emission reduction in the automobile industry. Cold-stamped ultra-strong steel with both ultra-high strength and high formability is one of the most comprehensive and competitive technology paths to achieve weight reduction and high safety in automobiles at the same time, so it has become the focus of steel mills and auto plants around the world.
In the past, the highest strength level of automotive steel that can achieve cold stamping processing is 1310MPa, and the parts with higher strength are mostly achieved by hot stamping process. The successful production of QP1500 for cold stamping by Baosteel provides a cold stamping solution at the same level as the existing hot stamping steel for automobile factories, which can effectively improve the production efficiency of users and reduce the comprehensive cost.
In the next step, Baosteel will work with users to carry out systematic evaluation and application research on relevant performance, including engineering evaluation of mechanical properties, welding properties and coating properties of materials, and conduct trial production and evaluation on target parts to form the full process technical solution of QP1500 from manufacturing to application, and further boost the lightweight of the automotive industry.
